Design Drinking: Joe Payne
Join us Thursday, July 26th, 6 PM at Ozark Beer Company for Design Drinking! This month’s AIGA happy hour will feature guest speaker Joe Payne, VP, Design at RevUnit.
Topic: Defining Design
The business world is realizing the value of design, even if they don’t understand its why. All too often, design as a practice is narrowly defined at best, and marginalized as decoration at worst. We as designers often find ourselves having the same conversations over and over again, advocating for more meaningful ways to influence strategy and decision making. In this talk, we’ll discuss what design really is, and how the language we use to educate our clients and partners can make or break our ability to lead.
Bio:
Joe is VP of Design at RevUnit, a Bentonville-based digital product studio building platforms, products, and strategies to help people and companies work better. His passion is leveraging the power of design to create and incite meaningful experiences for people. He has a BFA in graphic design, with a background in print, brand, retail operations and management, and entrepreneurship (Joe co-founded Moxy Ox, a Tontitown-based digital print and design studio). He has spent the last several years focused more specifically on digital user experience and product design at a global scale. Joe’s time away from work is spent working on his motorcycle, embracing minimalism, and—most importantly—spending time with his wife and three kids.
