AIGA NWA’s Mentorship Program

You are a lone wolf ready to take on the world at every turn. Confident in all of your abilities, you seek advice from no one and achieve success in all that you do. If this is you, turn back now. If you don’t relate, then you have come to the right place. AIGA NWA’s inaugural Mentorship Program promises to provide seasoned mentors a way to give back to the design community and learn about themselves, and gives mentees an avenue to gain insight into navigating the waters of their career.

Enrollment for this event has ended. Keep an eye out for our next mentorship season in 2019!

HOW IT WORKS

Mentorsense partners 20 emerging designers with 20 proven design professionals over a 12-week timeframe. The goal of the program is to build a strong, meaningful connection between our mentorship pairs that will last beyond the 12 weeks, or a line on your resume. It’s career growth, expedited.

EXPECTATIONS

Everyone should walk away having learned a little more about themselves and having grown —even just a little bit—professionally. This program will be mentee-led. We will provide guidelines as a starting point, but each mentee is responsible for setting and achieving their own goals. We ask that you try to meet once a week, or at least 10 times over the 12 weeks. But whether these meetings take the form of a phone call, chats over coffee, or one-on-one office time is entirely up to you.

EVENTS

To start and cap off the program, we will host two mandatory events for our mentorship pairs. The kickoff event will be at Exchange in Bentonville on September 19 from 6:00-8:00pm. The finale event will be hosted at the same spot on December 12 from 6:00-8:00pm.

QUALIFICATIONS/FEES

All mentors must be AIGA members. If you are not a member, sign up here! We are looking for mentors who are seasoned in the design field, preferably 5+ years experience, and feel you could provide mentorship value to an emerging designer. We expect mentees to be emerging designers, from junior-level college students in a design-related field of study to 5 years working in a design-related role.
